I finally received the final galley of my upcoming book.
I think I finally nailed it...It doesn't come out till December and seems like I wrote it years ago. I did submit the final to my editor at the beginning of this year.
Publishing books is a strange experience. As an author you go through a sort of time warp. It is an experience unlike the world today when we expect immediate gratification from what we create or the immediate answers we find on the web.
The other peculiar reaction I feel when my book finally comes to completion is how small it looks and feels. At the time of writing, photographing, creating, pondering and self debates of what should be included and what should be taken out, I feel that this project is a monster, large and wild. The hours spent and the time taken away from any sort of R&R seems like the book should be as big as a Rhinoceros....Maybe I should reread Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco. Or as Spalding Gray called it " A Monster in the Box.
I do feel fortunate to be an author and have my work published but it does come with a price. Or to state a cliche, "Nothing worthwhile is easy." Now that I sent my final corrections to my editor, Michelle Perkins I will forget the book and await till the final copy arrives. In the meantime I am thinking about another book...sort of an addiction.

Steven, that's fantastic! Congratulations! I've already put the book on my Amazon Wishlist. This book will be enormously helpful for me.
Next time I'm in Msla, I'll have to have you sign the title page. ;)
